Choose a line
Send a few direct words from your wrist when taking out your phone would add more friction than the moment deserves.
Near extends the iPhone app onto Apple Watch so a small reach can stay small: choose a line, send it to one person you trust, and feel their answer come back without managing a chat thread.
Send a few direct words from your wrist when taking out your phone would add more friction than the moment deserves.
The other person's deliberate answer can return as a Light: brief, wordless, and enough to let the moment settle.
The Watch does not become a relationship monitor. Near does not expose last seen, closeness scores, or activity rankings.
Someone comes to mind while you are walking, commuting, making coffee, or standing in a queue. Near makes that impulse actionable before it turns into another thing you meant to do later.
A person receives only what you intentionally send. Watch convenience does not create ambient sharing or passive presence tracking.
Near is not trying to replace Messages. It gives the moments that are too small, too tender, or too awkward for normal chat a separate shape. That can be especially useful when someone you care about lives far away and you want frequent warmth without obligation.
