Story

Why Near exists.

Near began with one person trying to be near another through a hard stretch, and finding that every tool for it wanted to measure, score, or report. None of them felt like care. They felt like surveillance with a soft logo.

So Near was built the other way around. It is a private journal first: a quiet place to notice how a day is landing, to write a line, to keep the small things that steady you. You can do all of that and never share a word of it.

And when you want someone near, you can invite exactly one person. Not to watch you, but to be reachable. You send what you mean to send. You write some things together. Everything else stays yours.

Close, but never merged. Presence without absorption.

The work that shaped it came from supporting someone living with a mood condition, but Near doesn't center the condition, and never names it at you. It took the sensibility from that experience, gentleness, no nagging, no judgment, and left the diagnosis out. Neither person here is a patient.

The name is the whole idea. Two presences, near, overlapping but not merged. Close enough to feel each other; separate enough to stay whole. Built for one person first, and made to be safe for anyone.
